240P Test Suite – Dreamcast

Lets celebrate Artemio’s amazing contribution to the community with a PHYSICAL PRODUTION!

With the help of Artemio and the original artist Jose we are excited to bring you a pressed release of the amazing 240P TEST SUITE!

A homebrew software suite for video game consoles developed to help in the evaluation of capture cards, upscalers, upscan converters, line doublers and of course TV processing of 240p video and scaled signals. The Wii, Dreamcast and GameCube versions have modes for 480i, 288p, 576i and 480p evaluation as well.

It consists of tests designed with the processing of 240p signals in mind, although when possible it includes other video modes and specific tests for them. These have been tested with video processors on real hardware and a variety of displays, including CRTs, PVMs, BVMs and Arcade monitors via RGB.

As a secondary target, the suite aims to provide tools for calibrating colors, geometry, linearity, overscan and black & white levels, for specific console outputs and setups.

MDFourier is also a part of the 240p Test Suite, it can compare audio signatures and generate a series of graphs that show how they differ. These can help to identify how audio signatures vary between systems, to detect if the audio signals are modified by audio equipment, to find if modifications resulted in audible changes, to help tune emulators, FPGA implementations or mods, etc. Check out the link for more information.

This software is open source and free to download on your own, VGNYsoft is realeasing the physical production with the support of Artemio. If you wish to contribute to the development of this project and others visit the Artemio’s patreon page.

New games for the Dreamcast system are produced with the leading standard of the industry. While these games are not licensed or endorsed by Sega, they are Licensed by the software rights holder and manufatured on to media for consumer production and not knockoffs or burned cd copies.

This is a produced on MIL-CD, while the majority of  Dreamcast consoles are compatible with MIL based media some of the units in the very last productions are unable to read the media. This can be indentified by reading production date information system label on the underside of the console. Units with a production date on or after November 2000 may not be compatible with this product
